PLEASE SIGN MY PETITION.
Please sign my petition if you DON'T think that a non percussion muzzle-loading pistol is likely to be used by a criminal in this day & age.
https://www.change.org/p/to-the-hono...nce/u/22524289
I would like to see all non percussion muzzle-loading pistols placed on a non restrictive licence. At present all reproduction muzzle-loading pistols are only available on an "H' class licence & can ONLY be used on a club pistol range. Antiques can not be used at all unless once again they are licenced & registered (NSW). I can find no record of criminal use involving a muzzle-loading pistol in the last 100 years, so this to me only goes to prove that gun control has NOTHING to do with public safety!

Why Firearms Restrictions?
Why Firearms Restrictions?
·
Terrorism
·
Crime
·
Suicides
Do restrictions on law abiding licensed firearms owners
do anything to stop the above problems/threats? Answer: No
Why No? Because law abiding citizens are not criminals or
terrorists & if they want to commit suicide they have other gentler means
of killing themselves without blowing their brains out.
How do restrictions to muzzle-loading long arms &
pistols effect the above? They don’t is the easy answer. No criminal will
choose a muzzle-loading firearm over a modern breach loading firearm to use in
committing a crime.
Why are restrictions placed on muzzle-loading firearms by
the Australian government if by doing so it has no effects on crime, terrorism
or suicide? Good question, & if we could actually ask the government this
question & get an answer, it would be very interesting to hear but probably
complete & utter bullshit.
Firearms restrictions are based on the premise that they
keep the public safe, but to date that has never been proven to be the case, in
fact, there is some question as to whether being able to carry a side arm in
public may not actually be a deterrent to crime & terrorism.
Let us take a look at the rules in NSW concerning
muzzle-loading firearms:
·
Antique muzzle-loading guns do
not require a permit to purchase, registration, or a firearms licence. But you
are not legally allowed to fire an antique gun.
·
Replica muzzle-loading guns are exactly
the same as antique muzzle-loading guns, exactly the same in all respects.
The loading procedure, the firing procedure, & the ignition method. All are
the same. Replica muzzle-loaders are just that, they are replicated copies of
originals. Not breach loaders, not smokeless gunpowder, not fast loading, not
high powered. But still they require registration, permit to purchase, & a
firearms licence. In the case of a flintlock, matchlock, tinderlock or wheel
lock pistol, they require a Pistol Licence, & to get a pistol licence you
have to join a pistol club, & to maintain membership you have to attend
regular meetings, & the membership is expensive. On top of this you are not
allowed to use this muzzle-loading pistol anywhere except on an approved firing
range.
Anyone wanting to make a crude muzzle-loading gun can do
so in about 30 minutes using a piece of gas pipe. It would be illegal to do so,
but it could easily be done. Yet the above restrictions on these primitive guns
are supposed to be keeping the public safe from harm. If it were not so
serious, if it did not seriously affect people’s rights to recreation through
Living History & Historical Re-enacting, it would be laughable. The
legislators who pen these laws may well be looked on as a joke, but the
restrictions they place on law abiding citizens is no joke.
I respect other people’s points of view, I understand why
some people are frightened by guns. I understand & respect their wish not
to own or use a gun, even in the defence of their loved ones & themselves.
But I simply can not understand why they are unable to look at the situation
& understand that law abiding citizens are not the enemy, we are not a part
of the problem, and we are not criminals. Treating us as such is unforgivable
& an offence against human rights.
Disagreeing with someone is a human right, but spreading
misinformation & lies is something else. The Greens, the government &
other anti-gun lobby groups are guilty of spreading misinformation, lies &
fear mongering in order to achieve further restrictions on firearms &
ammunition just to satisfy their own need to control people, to gain some sort
of power. It makes them feel good. What then does this say for these sorts of
people?
We, the law abiding gun owner are not totally blameless
in the restrictions that we suffer. Self-serving organisations such as the
S.S.A.A. (Sporting Shooters Association Of Australia) could be doing a lot more
for Australian gun owners, but instead it seems to me that they are more
interested in not rocking the boat & at the same time lining their own
pockets. Individuals are divided, muzzle-loading shooters have always readily
backed modern gun shooters, but modern firearms owners are often guilty of
hanging us black powder enthusiasts out to dry! I don’t see that anyone is
dividing us, we seem to have divided ourselves. When we finally have so many
restrictions & possibly even confiscations, then we will have no one to
blame but ourselves.

Firearms Owners In Australia Fail To Support Each Other.
This I think is a prime example of how firearms owners in
Australia DO NOT support each other. Not only that, but the different factions
or special interest groups within firearms associations also fail to support
each other. No wonder we are slowly but surely losing our rights.
It is just about the end of another year, & this petition is now CLOSED. I would like to sincerely thank all those gun owners who supported my petition, ALL 25 OF YOU!!!
This was not only posted on facebook, but it was also posted on my blogs & other media outlets. Now whilst it is possible that many people did not agree with my petition, I find it hard to believe that I only got 25 signatures.

Port Arthur Massacre - GUNMEN named! CORRUPTION!!!
The Port Arthur Massacre has been used as an excuse by the government & the anti-gun lobby for the initial gun buy-back & for further restrictions to firearms & ammunition ever since. This massacre was orchestrated it seems by the Australian Federal government in order to place firearms restrictions on law abiding licensed Australian citizen gun owners!!! Innocent people slaughtered & an innocent person blamed for the massacre. Even muzzle-loading guns have had restrictions placed on them. Historical Reenactors now have to purchase a special permit!!! Gunpowder/Black Powder has restrictions!!!

Firearm Legislation For NSW Australia. A Quick Run-Down or Legislation In Brief.
Firearms in Australia
are used for hunting & target shooting. Farmers & landholders have a
responsibility to eradicate feral animals on their land. Feral animals include:
goats, wild boar, rabbits, foxes, feral cats & feral dogs. The wild boar
here can grow to the size of a small family sedan & can be extremely
dangerous. Feral dogs usually exist in packs & can also be very dangerous.
Hand guns can not
legally be used for a back-up in hunting, you have to belong to a pistol club
in order to own a handgun, & this gun can only be used on a registered
pistol club range. Membership is usually expensive.
Semi-auto firearms
& pump actions are banned.Legal reasons for owning any other firearm are:
Membership to a gun club, permission to hunt on private land, or a collector.
Without proof of these you can not get a licence.
Muzzle-loading guns
are treated the same as breach-loading firearms & are subject to licensing,
permit to purchase, & registration. If you intend to use a muzzle-loading
arm for re-enactment, then you need a special permit on top of your licence.
Antique muzzle-loading
guns including pistols can be purchased & owned without a licence, permit
to purchase, or registration, but you are NOT allowed to shoot them.
All firearms are
subject to safe keeping, i.e. must be kept in an approved type of gun safe at
all times when not in use. Hand guns must be secured in a pistol safe. This
also applies to antique guns.
Legal gun owners are
subject to regular checks in their homes by police officers. Many if not most
of these officers know very little about any firearms other than their own
service weapons. This can & does cause problems as I have experienced
myself. Even after explaining & demonstrating to a police sergeant the
difference between a muzzle-loader & a breach-loader, & showing the
difference between antiques & reproductions, I was still required to spend
time & money getting a registered gunsmith to identify my firearms.
Basically here in
Australia the legal licensed firearms owner is penalised through firearms
registration. We are seen as being the problem where gun crime & violence
is concerned. Black market firearms from overseas are payed little attention
compared to the lengths they will go to make it hard for honest citizens to
acquire & keep their guns.
Firearms legislation
is not uniform Australia wide, each state having it’s own regulations. This
makes it very difficult for legal gun owners to interact with interstate group
shoots & difficult for interstate hunters. What is legal in one state, may
not be legal in another state.
In Australia we have
two factions whose agenda is to remove all firearms from law abiding citizens;
the Australian police service & the anti-gun lobby. The latter are very
strong in Australia & include, but are not restricted to, animal rights
groups, & the Greens political party.
We have only one
major firearms association in Australia, the Sporting Shooters Association of
Australia (S.S.A.A.). This association could do a lot more for it’s members,
but it is too deep in self-interest & hand kissing the government.
Basically the S.S.A.A is, in my opinion, in it for itself.

Australian National Firearms Lobby
This is a National Firearms Lobby group and our aim is to lobby for the complete change of the National Firearms Laws. The current State by State laws are far to confusing and frustrating. The proposed new law is as follows-: "It shall be the right of every Australian citizen to own and posses any firearm other than fully automatic weapons". This right shall be subject to the following-: 1) That applicant shall provide documentation that certifies such applicant to be safe and competent in the use of firearms.
2) That such applicant has passed a stringent criminal background check and has documentation to support same.
3) That the applicant has been given the, "Ok", after having completed a psychological evaluation questionnaire.

Gun Laws Australia. To satisfy their conceit, they manipulate statistics to suit themselves and pretend that “the science is settled”.

The Australian government is so inadequate in its appraisal of gun legislation that it requires permit to purchase, registration, and licensing for flintlocks, wheel-locks and matchlock muzzle-loading guns, rifles and pistols.

FIREARMS AMENDMENT (AMMUNITION CONTROL) BILL 2012
FIREARMS AMENDMENT (AMMUNITION CONTROL) BILL 2012
The Hon. ROBERT BROWN [9.08 p.m.]: I refer to the Firearms Amendment (Ammunition Control) Bill 2012, and attendant the regulation, which was passed by this House yesterday in a filthy deal between the Coalition and The Greens to do over the law-abiding firearms owners of this State. Shooters should be concerned about this new attack on shooters by the Liberals and, by default, The Nationals and The Greens. This regulation is simply a new tax of $30 on each person who now needs to apply for a permit to buy ammunition. There was no need for this regulation because there was no need for the bill. Observant members might have noticed that the regulation was dated 27 March 2012. Apparently this little fiasco was held over until yesterday to hide it behind the Federal budget media coverage. Every government acts in that way—Labor and Coalition. They dump out bad news or play politics on budget day; this Government is no different.
This regulation provides for persons holding a firearms licence to apply for a $30 ammunition permit to allow them to purchase ammunition for a firearm they are licensed to use but that is not registered to them when the person is a member of the same household as a person who has a firearm of that calibre licensed to them; or the person is employed or engaged by a person who has a firearm of that calibre licensed to them, and it is part of the first person's duties to purchase ammunition for that firearm. The regulation also provides a general power for the commissioner to issue an ammunition permit in other circumstances. The regulation provides a way for employees to purchase ammunition for a work firearm and a way for members of a household to purchase ammunition for firearms owned by other household members.
But enough of what the Government claims the regulation does do. What it does not address are the problems that will be caused, for example, when a licensed person borrows a firearm with a calibre and they do not already own a firearm with that calibre from a person who is not a member of their household and wishes to purchase ammunition for it, when a person who is driving to a remote property to hunt offers to bring ammunition with them for firearms owned by the property owner, when a licensed person who is a parent of a minor wishes to purchase ammunition for their child to use in a borrowed firearm that is of a different calibre to any the parent has registered to them, when a licensed person who chooses not to own a firearm borrows one for hunting or target shooting, or myriad other situations that have been identified to the Government but ignored.
In what appears to be something straight from Yes, Minister, the regulation imposes an additional $30 permit fee to allow already licensed persons to purchase ammunition that they are already authorised to possess under the conditions of their firearms licence. It imposes more work on the Firearms Registry, taking more money from the Police budget for administration, which means there is less available for policing. This raises questions about further costs to shooters. Will an additional $30 be required each time a member of a shooter's household purchases a firearm in an additional calibre and the permit must be amended? That is what happens to firearms owners. We were told that this bill was needed to address the drive-by shootings in Sydney's south-west.
The Hon. Dr Peter Phelps: I didn't say that.
The Hon. ROBERT BROWN: That is true. This legislation does not address drive-by shootings. If the Government thinks it does, I would like to be provided with the supporting information by the police Minister or the Attorney General demonstrating that they are right and I am wrong. I do not think they will do that because they know this legislation is a political stunt rather than a genuine attempt to stop criminals shooting at each other's houses. This Liberal-Nationals Government will have to live with the fact that it is prepared to deal with The Greens on firearms legislation rather than talk to shooters, or even their own firearms consultative committee. It would have been sensible to do that before introducing the legislation.
I do not think the Premier listens to his Nationals Coalition colleagues on this issue. I assure members that we in the Shooters and Fishers Party will be making that clear to people in the bush. The Shooters and Fishers Party no longer believes the Government is prepared to deal in good faith about firearms issues. We will ensure that all licensed firearms owners are aware of this new paradigm of a Liberal-Greens coalition with regard to firearms decisions that the Premier seems to think will work for him. The Shooters and Fishers Party disagrees. In fact, we wish him good luck—and he will need it if he is metaphorically getting into bed with The Greens.
