Xmas is near, Best Wishes To All.

I do not consider myself a Christian. To me xmas is a time to gather my family about me, & a time for the giving of gifts & thinking of others.
I wish all this blog's followers a very Mery Xmas, & I hope you get what you want, whether it be having your family about you, or a holiday & some peace & quiet, or some gifts that really make your day.
At this time please give some thought about those that are not as fortunate as ourselves, for some there will be nothing this xmas that they don't already have, & for some that will be very little.
That does not mean that you have to gag on every bite of food this xmas, or even feel guilty about having such a good time. But it does mean that you should feel very greatful for what you do have no matter how little that is. Me? I am just so glad to be back in my forest home again with my family. Anything else is just icing on the cake.
All the best everyone for a good xmas season & for the New Year to come.

Lost In The Australian Bush? Beware of sounds!

When lost in the bush it is always a good idea to listen for sounds of habitation or people. Car engines & chainsaws for instance may lead you to safety. But beware of imitations!

Primitive Skills DVD.

I had a phone call from a chap in West Australia a while back saying that he had heard of me but had no computor to view my videos, & could I please produce a skills video for him. Well I have, & can just about fit all my videos on one DVD. I gave him a price of $10.00 off the top of my head, & he seemed pleased with that. So the outcome is that I can now offer these videos for sale if anyone is interested.

A Small Mountain Man Rendezvous in America.

These people seem to be having a good time, and the only fault I can find in their activities is the setting off of a charge in a stump! A lot of fun I know, but in my opinion not something for a group meeting. Too many things can go wrong. Just the same I think this sort of small group/club rendezvous should be encouraged.




This is very similar to a rendezvous we used to hold here in Wychwood Forest many years ago, we had members all over Australia then and we all came together once a year for this rendezvous. It was a lot of fun.

Year Of The Forest 2011. A different post, but connected.

This may seem like a strange post on this sort of blog, but as many of you will know by now I am very much into primitive skills, survival and living off the grid. That is what it was all about in the 18th century.
I live in a forest, and I grow our own food. We lived for at least 25 years without any electricity, and now we supply our own but are still off the grid. This being the YEAR OF THE FOREST, I thought it very apt to make a post like this and give my followers something to think about beyond our day to day living skills.
