Women In Men's Clothing. 18th century, travelling on Louis Antoine de Bougainville's expedition
Jeanne Baret disguised herself as a boy so she could travell with Louis Antoine de Bougainville's expedition. This was in 1764, and women were not allowed on French Navy ships at this time.
