You can also use a smoke house for smoking skins. This does not have to be a full size smoke house, you can dig a fireplace & chimney into an earth bank & construct a small shelter above the chimney, or even hang the skin/s in an upside down metal dustbin or similar. You can dig a small trench & cover it to form a tunnel & make a fire at one end and your smoke house at the other end.
