A Ranger's Shot Pouch.

This shot pouch belonged to a very dear and close family and personal friend. When he died some years ago he left me his shot pouch and my youngest son adopted it. It is larger than the average rifle pouch because it seviced a Brown Bess musket. Now it is used with my .32 calibre flintlock Mountain rifle.

  1. Nice pouch. Nice rifle, too. Is it a Dixie?

  2. This rifle was made for my sons to learn how to shoot by a very good friend. I think it is basically a kit from Dixie, but I know he used a different lock. The ramrod I made longer, because it was not safe not having enough protruding from the barrel whe the load is seated. The tendency is to put ones hand over the ramrod to finish seating that last bit!
I was told that the protruding ramrod in the pipes as you see in the image would effect accuracy, pulling the ball downward. That has not been the case. Accuracy never changed.
