Gone Fishing.

I had a request from Murphyfish (John) to show my fishing tackle. Actually I am glad John asked, because a post on period fishing is probably well overdue. So this video is for anyone with and interest, but especially for John, who I have no doubt is a far better fisherman than I ever will be. Thank you John.

  1. Hi Keith,
No thank you for sharing my friend. A couple of questions; firstly judging by the size of hook your aiming for something of considerable size, flat-head or catfish perhaps? Secondly linen line, how strong is it (thinking of the size of fish again) and is it available commonly or do you make your own (and how)? Finally the last shot of you lying on the bank is what fishing should be all about.
    Regards,
    John

  2. Hi John, I do have some smaller hooks, but yes, mostly catfish. Linen line is quite strong, especially when wet. I used to purchase this linen line from the local saddler, but it is no longer available. If I need more, I have to use several thicknesses of a lighter linen thread and twine it by hand, though I have made fishing line from stringybark cordage.
    Keith.
