I dislike the way Indians are refered to as some form of lower life in this movie, but that is how it was in my childhood, and when this movie was made. That is why my blood brother's Father his his indentity when he moved to England from Canada. But if you can ignore this rudeness, and the lack of some authenticity, this, for me at least, is an enjoyable period movie to watch.
Growing up away from the rez with my Irish mother...my dad left us...I "learned" about my ancestors thru the movies. When I became older I had to UN-LEARN what I had learned and research the TRUTH. As I look back on my life it is true what they say about the blood being thicker than water. My father & his ancestors blood line dominated my life and my own mother recognized that as she watch me grow to adulthood. I love both my Irish heritage and my Native heritage...but I have taken the Red Road since I was a child.
