The Gully Knife.

ORIGINAL 17TH CENTURY GULLY KNIFE.

The Gully Knife custom made for me as a gift by the late Geoff W. Howarth of Tamworth NSW.
9 inches closed.

1 foot 5 inches open! Must be close to the one Crockadile Dundee used to kill that dummy snake!

  1. Great knife. Love it. It's like a folding Bowie!

  3. That's is a beast of a folder! Does the blade lock in some way? spring loaded? or is it a friction folder? I haven't seen one of those in the flesh and I'd be interested to know how it works.

I am planning to make a lockback folder soon(one with the long spring on the back of the knife)

  4. This one has a strong spring, but the length of the blade is such that the spring fails to lock/hold it in place. I intend to see if I can close the hinge a little tighter so that friction will help hol it in place, though it is usable as is.
Unfortunately Geoff died before he could put the knife together for me, otherwise he would have made improvements himself.
