I have often said that learning to make fire by a primitive means will improve your fire lighting skills overall, even if you go back to using modern methods. This same concept is mentioned in this video.
You will also note that my beliefe that primitive equipment and methods improves my enjoyment of the outdoors is also confirmed in this video, at least for people like us.
