Publicity For 18th Century Living History.

On Wednesday the 7th of October our group, the New England Colonial living History Group attended the "STRESS LESS DAY" event in the Armidale NSW Mall. The idea was for a variety of non profit groups to display what they had to offer to the general public. For people who might be stressed and looking for a hobby or a way to meet other people and perhaps find new friends.

To this end we had two poster boards with photos of Living Historians in a variety of personas and period dress, plus we had pamphlets and a photo album of period equipment and a dressmaker's dummy dressed in period clothing.

Unfortunately hardly anyone turned up and little interest was shown in any of the displays other than the free sausage sizzle! My youngest sone who was helping me got a parking ticket gratitude of the local council for $85.00 dispite there being plenty of parking room and all this whilst my son was listening to the mayor's speech!!! I of course felt obliged to pay my son's parking fined as he was there to help me help the public!

An expensive day all round and a complete waist of time and money. I am not sure what one needs to do to make the people sit up and take notice. Anyway we tried, and dispite it being a waist of our time and money we do actually feel better for having been there.
