6. chemises de traille (6 trail shirts at 4#) This is a very interesting item. Just exactly what is a "chemise de traille", a trail shirt? Is this a hunting shirt? Is it a man's shirt-style work frock? Is the hunting shirt the same thing as a frock? Anyone have any ideas on this one?
I suspect there was a mistake in copying from the original French term "chemise de traite" or trade shirt. You can sometimes find "traite" written with 2 T as in "traitte"
